About

Kim Lovvorn is a Gulf Coast photographer and designer pursuing an MFA in Creative Technologies and Practice at the University of South Alabama.

As part of the growing field of matrescence, the anthropological term for the birth of a mother, Lovvorn’s latest work provides an alternate view of contemporary motherhood. In contrast to the light, airy world of the Instagram supermom, Lovvorn’s work creates space for mixed responses to motherhood—from hormone-driven bliss to isolation and despair.
